GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The STRIP BRUSHES consist of a metallic U-shaped channel (base) where the bristle is disposed with continuity. There are two kinds of metallic base: single band base (Figure 2.1) and double band base (Figure 2.2). In the single band base, the most traditional, the bristle is held between the U-bent band and the fastening wire . In the double band base the bristle is held between the outer toothed band (U-bent and then bent again) and the inner band (simply U-bent).
One prefers the single band base when the brush is subject to normal working stress. The double band base will be used when the brush is subject to high contact pressure, great centrifugal force and when one needs high density of the bristle .
The strip brushes may be :

LINEAR - the brush is straight and one determines his lenght during the production when cutting.

ROLLER - the brush is wound in a spiral. The spiral can be fixed onto a tube or shaft

SEGMENT ROLLER - the brush consist of a roller with interchangeable straight segments.

Because of their characteristics the strip brushes are particulary suitable to form linear elements or rollers with medium and large sizes.

BASE DIMENSIONS

The width B of the base is a fundamental datum in defining the strip brush. The amount of bristle that can be filled and the rate of stress that the brush can support depend on B (apart from other parameters).
Figure 2.3 shows the cross section of the metallic bases and the side view of the double band base. Table 2.1 reports the pertinent dimensions related to the base B.
